ABOUT

Travel Matters because transportation is a vehicle that supports NSF's objectives. This blog is a travel journal of subject matter typically encountered in the course of planning travel and reimbursement. It is not designed to replace any part of NSF's official Travel site. By sharing our travel knowledge, we can team-teach and learn from common or not so common mistakes that cost us time, unnecessary effort and delays in processing. Our division has the common goal to significantly eliminate returns, which will increase successful submissions in an expeditious manner.

As an info resource, the user can retrieve certain answers based on situations presented by other travel users. For convenience, Fedtraveler is accessible for online booking, confirming ticketing and invoicing, find policy guidelines via the FTR (Federal Travel Regulations), while enroute or for quick reference. Our concerted efforts will produce and promote an informed traveler, alternate preparer and approver.

Its imperative that users develop a mindset that the travel environment is constant. What that means to users is, that we cannot take for granted knowledge acquired, but to evaluate it against the most current policy or Fedtraveler system-upgrade processes. I now practice cross-referencing policies (i.e. Blue Skies, FTR, NSF Bulletins and related topics). As a result, have gained a clearer perspective and appreciation of how expansive this specialty area is. DAS Travel Team (DTT) and Fedtraveler welcomes your questions and are posed to assist you with situations. If you identify information conflict, DTT wants to know that too. DTT encourages users to take advantage of ongoing travel seminars, as no two are alike. Even when you think you learned everything you need to know about, for instance, Fedtraveler, an enhancement is made. At the conclusion of class, you have the opportunity to present specific questions.

This medium echos established procedures and policies reflected in the course of the day-to-day. Continual changes to policy, upgrades to Fedtraveler and new procedures are challenges for all NSF customers. My mentorship training is ensuring that I capture new and existing travel concepts and examine them against NSF Policy, DFM, Fedtraveler, and SATO integration. How empowering! This communication tool presents a relaxed atmosphere, yet resolute in its aim to equip travelers and alternate preparers with information needed to broaded our travel knowledge quotient.

DAS Travel is fiercely making improvements to demystify Travel and create an user-friendly product and service. Since this is a living document, topics and matter will be added, to keep it fresh and relevant. In addition, the journal is constructed to offer meaningful travel information for our seasoned travelers. It centralizes many of the sites already use. There is a collage of resources and links, such as mobile tool features, governmental sites, news, trip worksheets, airport maps, calculators, international aides, and more. In order to access NSF links, you must be signed into the system.

You can locate a particular topic via the archive (by date) or scroll the topic listing (left) of abbreviated descriptions. If there isn't something here that you'd like added, please let me know. Please add useful comments so that your voice can be heard and your opinions counted. When you learn something new that resolves a matter, share.
